Fishing
Just two blocks from the park, the Kenai river awaits all anglers. Whether it is the Mighty King Salmon, or the Beautiful Rainbow Trout, the Kenai will provide the opportunity most only dream of. Fishing 'the river' is a timely matter, Click for run times. Along with the Kenai River, the area has numerous lakes and creeks full of trout, salmon and northern pike. Cook Inlet is also home to some of the biggest Halibut in the world. Charters out of Homer(90 miles) and Ninilchik(45 miles) are other fishing options to pursue. The Peninsula also boasts some pretty fine Razor Clamming. The 'good clamming' is determined by the tides, and tide books are available at many local merchants. Hiking
From the Kenai-Soldotna bike/hike loop, to the Skyline trail, the area has many opportunities to lace up the boots and head into the wilderness. Trails for the novice to the expert await you to explore. Bike rentals are also available from a few merchants in the local community. Check with the Kenai Visitors Center for more detailed information about the local hiking and biking resources.
Wildlife Viewing
The Kenai Peninsula is home to a vast number of animals. From Moose to Mountain Goats, Grizzlies to Eagles, the Peninsula has something for all to see. From the basic necessities to fine native art, the Kenai Peninsula has all you are looking for. Kenai-Soldotna boasts both specialty shops as well as national retailers.
